1 in 4 children of school-going age is out of school in India. I strongly feel access to good education is a birthright of every child. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have received good education. At the same time my heart goes out to all the poor kids in India who suffer from child labour, poverty and do not have access to even basic amenities.
Asha for Education – a non profit organization supports various projects that promote the education of underprivileged children in India by providing them financial assistance. Asha Portland chapter specifically supports Sandya Sanwardhan Sanstha – an institute dedicated to serve the mentally disabled children. These kids truly need our support. I am participating in Intel’s GPTR 5k Run to help Asha Portland raise funds to support these differently abled children. This is also an opportunity for you to give back to the society and extend your support to these kids back in India by making a donation. Your donation would make a great difference in their lives.
