Donation Profiles – Asha Portland https://portland.ashanet.org The Portland Chapter of Asha for Education Wed, 14 Jul 2021 01:24:47 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.8 Nischala https://portland.ashanet.org/blog/donation_profiles/nischala/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=nischala https://portland.ashanet.org/blog/donation_profiles/nischala/#respond Wed, 13 Sep 2017 01:48:34 +0000 http://portland.ashanet.org/?post_type=donation_profiles&p=653 My first introduction to Asha and running for a cause was through an event that I took part in Bangalore, India. It was organized by Runners High – a social enterprise comprising of a group of passionate runners who train to work with underprivileged children to make running a part of their curriculum! I truly experienced the joy of running through this event, which had participants from every walk of life – runners, senior citizens, and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. I believe it’s not every day that we find ourselves in the middle of an eye-opening experience. But it did happen to me; and in the most unlikeliest of occasions.

This experience, in no small measure, has motivated me run with Asha for Education – Portland Chapter. I’m taking part in the Spirit of Wipro 10K run on September 17th, 2017 to raise funds for Sandnya Sanwardhan Sanstha – an institute which supports special children in Nagpur, India. Please help me support this project and do spread the word! 🙂

This is our first opportunity to raise funds for Asha by participating in a 5k run. We hope you can help us in our endeavor to raise funds for this good cause.

Asha for Education is an excellent vehicle for effecting real societal change in developing countries like India. Asha has a track record of efficiently supporting projects in India with the lowest of administrative overhead. It is an excellent experience working with such passionate and idealistic Indians overseas, and knowing that we are doing something good back home.

Warm Regards,

Archana and Rahul

I have been involved with Asha for more than 4 years now, first with Asha Purdue during my grad school and now with the Asha Portland chapter.

I firmly believe that quality education is everyone’s right and the best way for us, as a society, to progress forward. I also feel privileged to have been born in a family where good education and quality of life never seemed like asking for too much. Having said that, I do strongly feel that such privilege comes with a responsibility to help others who were not as fortunate as me. Here, with Asha, I am doing my bit to ensure that I fulfill it in the best way possible and it has been a source of immense pleasure and contentment. I hope you do the same with your generous donations and help me reach my target of $1000 for my 10k run this year. This run is one of the several events that we organize every year, all for the common goal of raising awareness and funds for the education of underprivileged children in India. Every single penny you donate is going to go to our supported NGO – Sandya Savarthan Sanstha, an educational institute for differently-abled children in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. And, in return, you will receive hundreds of smiles from those little kids and a sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The spirit of Asha members and volunteers was uplifting and above all, the cause of supporting and providing education to the  underprivileged kids was what attracted me the most. I have recently joined the budding chapter of Asha Portland and hope to continue doing my part in supporting education.

In this regard, I am running the Spirit of Wipro-2017 10K run to raise funds for Asha Portland’s project – Sandnya Sanwardhan Sanstha. This is an institute dedicated to the  education and rehabilitation of mentally challenged children in India. Please join me in this noble cause and extend your support by donating to this project. Remember, every penny counts!

I strongly feel access to good education is a birthright of every child. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have received good education. At the same time my heart goes out to all the poor kids in India who suffer from child labour, poverty and do not have access to even basic amenities.

Asha for Education – a non profit organization supports various projects that promote the education of underprivileged children in India by providing them financial assistance. Asha Portland chapter specifically supports Sandya Sanwardhan Sanstha – an institute dedicated to serve the mentally disabled children. These kids truly need our support. I am participating in Intel’s GPTR 5k Run to help Asha Portland raise funds to support these differently abled children. This is also an opportunity for you to give back to the society and extend your support to these kids back in India by making a donation. Your donation would make a great difference in their lives.

She has inspired a lot of her friends to volunteer for Asha and bring the change together. She was also a core Asha volunteer at Purdue University and has contributed to raising funds for various projects through running 5k, amongst other events.

She firmly believes that education is empowering and strongly instrumental in shaping the future of children as well as the nation.
She considers herself fortunate to have received a good education and she wants to do her bit to give back to society by empowering underprivileged children to build a bright future and have the opportunity to create a beautiful life for themselves. She has pledged to run the 5K run with Spirit of Wipro in Portland and raise funds for our project, Sandnya Sawardhan Sanstha. She looks forward to run the “miles for smiles” !!

Any donation, small or big, counts and can make a world of difference to someone!

I have been actively involved with Asha for Education, a non-profit which raises funds around the world for supporting the education of underprivileged children in India.

Asha supports a lot of causes ranging from education of underprivileged children to women empowerement in rural India. One such cause which we, the volunteers from Asha’s Portland chapter(Asha-PDX) are supporting is Sandnya Sanwardhan Sanstha, an institute dedicated to the education and rehabilitation of mentally challenged children in India.

In an effort to support this cause, I have pledged to run a 10K run on September 17, 2017 to raise money for this institute and inform people about Asha and its contributions.
Your support is integral in making this effort a success. Every dollar you donate will make a big difference in someone’s life.

Jay Ravi https://portland.ashanet.org/blog/donation_profiles/jay-ravi/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=jay-ravi https://portland.ashanet.org/blog/donation_profiles/jay-ravi/#respond Sun, 18 Sep 2016 06:38:47 +0000 http://portland.ashanet.org/?post_type=donation_profiles&p=568 I recently joined Asha Portland chapter after moving to Oregon. I am a software engineer by profession. The person I am today is because of the education I received. My volunteering at Asha is my way of giving back to society what I received. Education is fundamental to a child’s growth and development. Education is what makes the world move. I have been fortunate to receive it. Now, I want to help provide the next generation what they deserve. Because, when the time comes, they will not just move the world, but they will make it a better place.

I am running a 10k at the Spirit of Wipro in Portland to raise funds for Asha Portland’s project – Sandnya Sawardhan Sanstha. This past June I completed my first half marathon in Seattle. So I can say I have little bit of experience. I have also been practicing past few weeks for this event. I am all pumped and ready for this event. I have pledged to raise funds to support the differently abled children of Sandnya Sawardhan Sanstha. Help me, help them! Donations of any size will be most appreciated. 🙂
